The Croods (2013)

the croodsCute, funny, and heartwarming, this film is sure to please the whole family. Lots of action and slapstick humor will keep kids entertained, while teenagers and older adults might appreciate the deeper themes.

The Croods are a family of cavemen led by patriarch Grug (Nicholas Cage). Grug is very serious about protecting his family and has many, many rules designed to keep everyone safe. He has good reason for these rules because the Croods’ prehistoric environment is fraught with danger. But Grug’s teenage daughter Eep (Emma Stone) is growing restless under her father’s rocky roof and yearns for a deeper purpose beyond mere survival. One night she sneaks out of the cave and encounters a boy named Guy (Ryan Reynolds) who says the world is coming to an end.

When tragedy strikes, the Croods are left homeless. Grug is particularly shaken and has difficult time coming to terms with the changing world. But with Guy’s help, the Croods begin their search for Tomorrow.

Uplifting and fun, The Croods is the perfect family night movie. Of course, anyone who can appreciate a good family film will enjoy this one too.
